Art on the skin
Last night, when watching TV, I saw a special show with a group of guys dedicated to a new form (new for me) of art. They staged some people, completely naked and showing what can be described as “classic paintings” all over the surface of their bodies.
Many of the models did own perfectly fit bodies and showed a few interesting designs. There was even a girl showing a nice Picasso covering her breasts and belly (I would have loved to kiss that painting). What really surprised me was when a pregnant woman appeared on the show. She had an interesting design over her belly, it looked like a world globe melting due to global warming. Awesome!
This kind of art have possibly evolved from the old tattoos. I remember clearly when I was a young college student that a lot of my classmates were getting their own tattoo designs on their skins. I always felt reluctant to get tattooed, basically because of my strong fears of the consequences that it would led to. Mainly from the clinical point of view, as it was vox-populi that some of the materials used might be cancerigenous. Of course, all of that was only a pop urban legend, but there was no chance to know the truth then.
All through these years I have been able to see many interesting tattoo designs that should be considered a real expression of art. In the future, it can be envisioned that corporal art will be considered a formal art and might even have its own Academy.
But, for now, we have a big chance to watch a good exposition of this new kind of art… In a warm summer, on the beach!
